Greenacres Stud

Although Greenacres Stud are affiliated to the BSJA , we recognise the importance of Local Riding Clubs , both Nationally and Globally . Equally we recognise the work put into these clubs by the unpaid committee members and their event helpers and  judges , all without whom , these clubs would not exist .

That is why , to encourage participation at a local level , we annually sponsor the Novice Horse show jumping section of a Riding Club in our  area.

For  2005 and 2006  we are sponsoring  Ashby & Orton On The Hill  & District  Riding Club  ( Contact 01283 -  220045 for details of the clubs full activities . )

Last year's  ( 2005 ) Novice Horse Championship  was won by Tracey Summers ( Pictured left ) , who clinched the title by coming home with the only double clear of the class. After an enthralling 2 horse jump- off , her slower but steady piloting paid dividends , when the second placed horse ridden by Katie Frost ( who was well up on the clock throughout) , just caught and knocked the final fence. The other rosette places went to ( in order ) , Simon Joel and Sarah Green.

Tracey was riding her handsome 9yr old Dutch Warmblood Gelding  Dolphaz Red Kite , who is affectionately known as Zak . The partnership between Tracey and Zak only started in October 2004.

Tracey is in her first season with Ashby & Orton , having been out of the saddle for more than 10 years whilst bringing up her family. She started riding at the age of 11 but has not ridden competitively for more than 15 years ! In fact this win was only the 5th show that Tracey had competed in  since joining the riding club.

For her efforts Tracey picked up the Champions Sash , Trophy , Rosette and a nice  £100 winners cheque !

Well Done Tracey and Zak and well done to all the competitors who turned out and took part in the six , strongly contested qualifying rounds over the past season. We very much look forward to the start of the next one.
